Ali Abdullah Saleh Will Stop Being A President of Yemen

ali salehYemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh said on Wednesday that he would not continue his leadership which has been running for three decades at the end of 2013.  Saleh who witnessed the fall of how North Tunisian leader and also large demonstrations that shook Egypt, he promised not to continue the reins of leadership to his son, but he asked the opposition to refrain.

“I am here to state concessions. What do you want this country to our personal desires. There is no extension, no inheritance of power, no engineering time,” he told parliament.  The statement expressed the day before a major rally planned besara called “Day of Anger,” which was organized by the opposition which is used as a barometer of Yemeni citizens to follow in the footsteps of Egypt and Tunisia to request a change of government.

“I ask the opposition to hold all plans, protest and occupation,” said Saleh as reported by Reuters on Wednesday (02/02/2011).

Saleh also submit a bid for the presidency and promised to limit raises to civilian employees and military personnel to USD47 per month.  Yemen ruling party will ask Saleh down from his post when the period ended in 2013. But some members of his party to make angry opposition to a proposal for him in power longer.

Opposition parties tried to rally the opposition to the idea in December, but ultimately failed because the numbers are small. But last week the opposition parties managed to garner up to 16 thousand people took to the streets to ask for a change in government. Some demonstrators called for Saleh down from his position.
